My passion for this vocation was fostered while working at a residential treatment facility with at-risk youth. While there, I recognized that if we wanted to prevent youth from entering “the system”, we needed more individuals working to build proactive interventions in our schools and communities. While researching ways I could apply my knowledge and skills, I happened upon HAVEN Academy. Since joining the team in 2015, I have found that my clinical expertise, and both my school and clinical backgrounds, have been assets which I have utilized to build and grow both the Middle School and High School Programs in the ways that encourage: offering/finding support, demonstrating understanding and compassion, fostering resilience, and illuminating hope.
I am a firm believer that I have the best job in the world! My team and I have the opportunity to impact lives directly though our daily interactions with our students. I look forward to working with you to teach and foster both the skills and the resilience necessary to achieve both academic and personal goals! ~Dr. J
